Building the Future on Strong Foundations

From pioneering beginnings to setting the standard in cosmetic medicine.

A Legacy of Excellence

Since 1995, NZSCM has grown from a small group of doctors into the leading professional body in cosmetic medicine in New Zealand. We’ve built a trusted network of accredited doctors, developed national guidelines, and continue to lead the way in clinical standards, training, and patient safety.

Our early leadership helped shape the society's strong foundation including past presidents Dr Hans Raetz, Dr Teresa Cattin, and Dr John Barrett, whose vision and dedication contributed significantly to NZSCM’s growth and credibility.

NZSCM doctors undergo rigorous training. NZSCM doctors are experienced medical doctors who hold vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and then complete the NZSCM postgraduate diploma in cosmetic medicine. Education is at the heart of NZSCM, reflected in both our comprehensive training programme and our annual Queenstown conference featuring world-renowned international speakers.

NZSCM endorses only products and treatments that are clinically proven, safe, and approved by recognised regulatory bodies such as Medsafe, the TGA, or the FDA.

We are proud to uphold the highest standards of patient care and safety in cosmetic medicine. Just as importantly, we are committed to building a strong, values-led community, bringing together practitioners who share our dedication to excellence, ethics, and the advancement of the profession. Together, we strengthen our purpose and impact.
